 2017 Preview 


       Jackson Academy completed the 2016 season with a 6-5 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AA region two, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Jackson Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lakeside by a score of 42-35.

       Since 2010, Jackson Academy has gone a combined 41-40. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class AA over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Jackson Academy has managed to compile a record of 115-159. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA and 30th in the AISA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Jacob Webb who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Jackson Academy. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Webb.

       Coach Webb's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 25-29 (46.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Webb's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship.

       The Jackson Academy Eagles will play in Class AA region two during the 2017 season.

       The Eagles will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season.

       The Eagles open the 2017 season at home against non-region opponent South Choctaw Academy on Friday, August 25 at McCorquodale Stadium. Last year the South Choctaw Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class A region two. The Rebels lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Abbeville Christian by a score of 41-26.

       Jackson Academy and South Choctaw Academy have met a total of 52 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 26-26-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2016 with South Choctaw Academy winning by a score of 45-21.

       Jackson Academy returns AISA All-State Senior linebacker Robby Busby. He was named to the second team last season.
